Kidsave programs are currently at work in the US, Russia and Colombia and can be implemented in communities worldwide.
Kidsave “Miracles” Family Visit Programs involve people hosting foster youth and orphans in their homes on weekends and during school breaks, with the goal of creating lasting relationships with the children and helping them find adoptive families. Miracles Family Visit Programs are currently operating in the US, Russia and Colombia.
School of Life Programs help prepare teens who are "aging out" and being forced to leave their orphanages for independent living. School of Life programs are currently operating in Russia and Colombia.
The Teen Mother Program helps orphans who are teenage mothers learn to care for their child and support themselves so they can raise their babies and prevent them from going into orphanages or foster care. The Teen Mother program is currently operating in Russia.
Kidsave’s Training the Trainers (TOT) educational materials and seminars train child welfare professionals (social workers, psychologists, etc.) who work with foster youth and orphans in permanency and family-based care models. Once trained, these professionals can go on to engage and train orphaned children and families. TOT materials and seminars have been used to train child welfare professionals in Russia and Colombia.
Kidsave has joined forces with the Institute of Human Sources/North American Resource Center for Child Welfare to expand capacity for helping governments build child welfare that focus on permanent families for children rather than institutional care. Our team of trainers:
- Supports countries in developing strategies for permanency
- Trains child welfare and government and private sector professionals
- Builds capacity in local universities and professional cadres
- Develops strategy for insuring capacity is developed and progresses
- Helps monitor progress and evaluate program/initiative success.
