There are several requirements that families must meet before they host:
1. Help your Summer Miracles committee reach their fundraising goals.
2. Obtain local and federal child abuse clearances.
3. Attend orientation and host family training sessions in your community.
4. Have at least one visit by a social worker to your home.
5. Read and sign the Kidsave Host Information Sheet, which details the responsibilities of each host family.
We try to cluster kids so they are not isolated from one another. This enables weekend events for families advocating for the kids and exposes kids to individuals and organizations who are interested in helping children.
The main task of the host family, aside from providing a safe home for the child, is to find the child a mentor or family. Families and organizations who decide to support a child or children pledge to provide funds that will be used to give the hosted child as well as many other children the chance to have a secure future.
