Meet the DC Kids Needing Families

If you are interested in learning more about any of the children needing families, please contact Susan Punnett at susan@kidsave.org.

Cierra

DC Weekend MiraclesCierra is a bright and engaging 17 year old. She loves shopping, being with friends and having her hair done. But don't be fooled—she is also comfortable on the basketball court! Cierra is playful as well as competitive. She may hold back at first, but she's willing to try new things. And her smile will light up a room! Cierra likes to read and is a good problem solver. Cierra has an older sister with whom she is very close. Her host and adoptive parents need to be open to developing a relationship with Cierra's older sister and committed to keeping them connected.

Michelle, Nicole and Tommie

Nicole, Tommie, and Michelle are three siblings who are very close to one another.

DC Weekend Miracles Spending time with Nicole will transport you back to the days of your youth! At 16, she enjoys the things most teenagers do-shopping, talking on the phone, and going to the movies. Her athletic ability shined recently when she hit a bulls-eye on the archery course. The saying "still waters run deep" applies to Nicole. She doesn't always have something to say, but that doesn't mean she isn't listening! When she speaks one truly listens. Her brilliant smile is worth the coaxing it sometimes takes and it will make your heart warm when you see it.

DC Weekend MiraclesAt 15, Tommie (with an “ie” not a y!) is all boy. Displaying a natural affinity for sports, he is particularly fond of basketball and is easy to bond with over a game of one-on-one. If he cannot go outside don’t worry that he will be bored, Tommie is also an avid video game player. Tommie is not boisterous as some boys his age but he’ll earn your attention by his calm manner and his accomplishments in school.

DC Weekend MiraclesLast but most definitely not least is 10 year old Michelle, an outgoing girl who loves scary movies, Hip Hop, and talking…about almost anything! Michelle dreams of having a bedroom with pink curtains-one that she can share with lots of dolls! She has expressed a love of animals and would enjoy having pets-especially a poodle or a brown and white cat. Michelle is very mature for her age. She is also very attached to her siblings and likes to emulate her sister, whom she looks up to.

Nicole, Tommie and Michelle need to find a family who is interested in adopting them together.

Shaletta

Fifteen year old Shaletta is known to her friends as “Shay.” Some of her favorite activities are playing basketball, roller skating and going to the movies. Listening to music and dancing are also favorite pastimes. Those who meet her describe her as smart, witty, and quite comical! She doesn’t have any particular ideas about the type of family she’d like to have and is open to the possibilities. Shaletta has a close relationship with her sixteen year old brother and it’s important to her to keep that connection after adoption. Shaletta has asked that we not put her photograph on the website. Please come and meet her at a Weekend Miracles® event.

D'Angelo

DC Weekend MiraclesIf you want to stay laughing, you need to spend time with D’Angelo. This engaging 16 year old has a positive outlook on life and has an infectious laugh. He will definitely make you laugh; he’s always looking for fun! D’Angelo likes to keep busy; he can be a bundle of energy. He loves outdoor activities, especially riding (a bicycle or even better a dirt bike) and anything to do with water: swimming, boating, tubing. He likes playing pool, football and basketball and playing video games. D’Angelo has an incredible sense of direction; you won’t get lost if he is in the car. He enjoys watching the History Channel and has a serious interest in military history. He dreams of one day being a military fighter pilot. D’Angelo needs an adoptive family who likes to keep busy and will keep him doing his favorite activities or learning new ones.

Christine

DC Weekend MiraclesChristine is a bright 19 year old with a positive attitude and a belief in herself and her abilities. She does well in school and is excited to have started college. Christine is very sociable and enjoys being with others. She is also an avid reader; when she isn’t out with friends she could be buried in a book. Christine likes cheerleading, doing hair, skating, swimming, and going to mall. She also likes going to museums and culture activities. Christine is very excited about being adopted and is open to almost any family composition.

Dwayne

Dwayne is a smart and energetic 16 year old who likes playing football and video games and plays a mean game of basketball. Dwayne loves camping in the summer—especially if it includes canoeing, swimming, a ropes course, or even more challenging physical activities. Dwayne is a good student with the ability to go far with his education. He is insightful and very articulate (with a very impressive vocabulary).

Dwayne has not allowed us to include his picture with his profile so you can take our word that he is also very handsome or you can come meet him at an upcoming Weekend Miracles event! Dwayne looks forward to being part of an active family who will support him and love him unconditionally.
