Meet the LA Kids Needing Families

If you are interested in learning more about any of the children needing families, please contact Lauren Reicher Gordon at Lauren@kidsave.org

Ricky

LA Weekend MiraclesRicky (given name Shedrick) is a fourteen year old Black youth with a big heart and a charming smile. The first things you notice about Ricky when you meet him are his bright smile and his athletic build. Ricky is happy-go-lucky kind of youth who enjoys the outdoors. Ricky is very athletic and loves to ride skate boards, bikes and play most outdoor sports. However, he is most passionate about playing basketball. Ricky has twin sister and a younger sister and he would like to be able to continue to have a relationship with them. Ricky does well in school with the support of a good routine. Ricky is in need of a loving home that can provide a structured environment balanced with his passion for extracurricular activities. Ideally, Ricky would like a family that is young (at least at heart), so that they can keep up with his many athletic interests and help him continue a relationship with his sisters.

Ricky is looking for an adoptive family or a host family who will help him find an adoptive family.

Varsety

LA Weekend MiraclesVarsety is definitely a kid with a zest for life! He’s got a fantastic smile and an easy-going manner that people around him always benefit from. Varsety also has a contemplative side and takes life and all of his experiences quite seriously. This comes through in Varsety’s relationships, as he tends to form deep connections with the people in his life.

Born in 1997, Varsety loves a lot of the same things that most young boys love – pizza, football, playing video games and watching cartoons. He thrives with adult attention and is eager to spend time with the role models in his life. Varsety has some special needs as well ~ his right leg had to be amputated when he was a child due to a birth defect, and he now wears a prosthetic leg. Varsety is extremely adaptable and gets around well.

Varsety has both a younger and an older sister, and although they do not live together, their relationship is very important to him. He looks forward to his visits with his sisters every month and hopes to be able to stay in touch with them.

Varsety would greatly benefit from a person who could support him and cheer him on while he explores all of his options in life… maybe you could be the one to help him unlock the door to his future!

Varsety is looking for an adoptive family or a host family who will partner with him to find an adoptive family.

Zeldon

LA Weekend MiraclesBorn in 1992, Zeldon almost always has hip-hop or gospel music coming from his stereo, and what would this music be without some dance moves – Zeldon is rarely too shy to show you his moves on the floor.

Zeldon also has a very strong interest in sports, especially wrestling and football.  He follows NFL games closely and can give you Dallas Cowboys stats at any time.  He would really like to go to a professional football game, someday! His love for action carries over into his taste in movies as well, with Jet Li’s martial arts being at the top of his list!

Taking pictures of nature is a very rewarding and relaxing experience for Zeldon, and he hopes to someday make a career of it.  He has also considered expanding his future photography business to taking pictures of weddings, as well.  Zeldon is in the Special Education Program at his school and is making steady progress academically.  He loves to write, and his favorite subject is English.  He is looking for an adoptive family who is open to him maintaining some very important connections.  Are you that family?

He is always up for new ideas and likes to get involved as quickly as possible. Harbinzon’s taste in books reflects his eagerness to reach unknown places – he enjoys books like Limoney Sniket: A Series of Unfortunate Events and is always looking for action.

Harbinzon is looking for someone to foster his talents and interests, which include playing computer games, board games, bowling and doing tricks on his miniature skateboard. His charming and outgoing personality will win you over and his caring attitude will make you smile.

Franklin

LA Weekend MiraclesAlthough Franklin might appear to be shy at first, don’t let that fool you. Franklin is a talkative and witty 13 year old. He is extremely athletic and can always be found outside shooting hoops or kicking a soccer ball around. Franklin is focused on getting on the basketball team at school and spends countless hours perfecting his three point shots. Franklin is a Latino young man who is interested in learning more about his culture, including learning to speak Spanish. He knows a few phrases and tries them out whenever possible. Franklin is in the 8th grade and enjoys going to school, especially to be around his friends. He has an expansive vocabulary and is able to express himself in a very mature manner. Franklin is enjoying his increasing independence as a teenager and is especially proud of his very own cell phone. Franklin is eager to be a part of a family that is active and loves the outdoors. Franklin has an older brother and younger sister that are very important to him, maintaining contact with them is his priority in addition to becoming part of a new family. He is already an MVP and just needs a team to play on!

Richard

LA Weekend MiraclesRichard was born in 1995 and is kind and intelligent, very attuned to other's feelings and has a lot of love to give. Like most children his age, Richard loves video games, watching television and participating in sports. If he can participate in a game with prizes, he would give it all to win. The prizes he collects are not for himself but for other foster children in the group home where he resides. Generosity is one of Richard’s exceptional qualities. It was also recently discovered that Richard is quite the entertainer! Given a podium, Richard will entertain those around him by singing and dancing. He has quite the singing voice!

Richard struggles with reading and writing and benefits from the academic support and individual attention that he receives. He is receiving therapeutic services that have been helping him cope with his feelings of abandonment and loss. With the support and nurturing from the right family Richard will flourish to his full potential. More than anything, Richard wants a family to call his own.

Richard is looking for an adoptive family or a host family who will partner with him to find an adoptive family.

Lon

LA Weekend MiraclesLon is an adorable and engaging child. Born in 1994, Lon's bright smile, big brown eyes, and sunny disposition will capture your heart. He is residing in a group home, and has no problem getting along with adults and peers. Lon absolutely loves being outside and practicing his skateboarding skills. He's still working on being able to go from kneeling to standing on it, but he's not giving up! Some of his other favorite pastimes include playing with his Gameboy and watching action/adventure movies. Lon considers himself an expert on anything having to do with the Titanic. Ask him any question about it, and he will surely have the answer. He loves reading about all sorts of ships, but the history of the Titanic is his most favorite subject.

Lon also looks forward to any chance he gets to see his sister Selena. He has grown into quite a handsome (tall) young man! The light in his eyes, his bright smile, and warm heart will touch you.

Lon is looking for an adoptive family or a host family who will partner with him to find an adoptive family.
