Meet the LA Kids Needing Families

If you are interested in learning more about any of the children needing families, please contact Lauren Reicher Gordon at Lauren@kidsave.org

Nathan

LA Weekend MiraclesAnyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Nathan will tell you what great energy he has! Nathan is an outgoing young man who is quick to engage whoever he is talking to, and who loves to share his thoughts and interests…and Nathan definitely has many interests! Nathan says that he loves sports of all varieties, but is especially a fan of basketball and football (and he throws a pretty impressive spiral!). Nathan also talks like a budding outdoorsman, who loves swimming, biking and riding dune buggies in the desert. When Nathan is not busy with sports, he loves to draw and is quite an artist. Nathan is a bright young man, and has a quick mind which shines through in his interaction with others.  Most of all, Nathan says that he is looking forward to having a family that will spend quality time with him. He hopes to find a family that will share all of his special moments with him…one that will support him in doing the things he already loves, and will introduce him to new and exciting experiences!

Thanks to Kidsave, Nathan has a permanent family!

Vincent

LA Weekend MiraclesBorn in 1999, Vincent is a sweet and sensitive boy who loves to play catch, football, and basketball. He enjoys throwing the baseball around with the staff at his group home and is known for his strong arm. Vincent has a curious spirit and loves to learn about nature, the universe at large, and is fascinated by the planets. Interpersonally, Vincent loves getting hugs and is affectionate with those he cares about. At school, Vincent works hard to improve his grades and welcomes the help he receives from his teachers. Vincent has Aspergers and will need a family who is willing to learn about this condition in order to provide care for him. Vincent is looking for a forever family that is just as inquisitive as he is and who wouldn’t mind throwing the ball around in the front yard. Open your heart and home to Vincent and you will be infected by his contagious smiles!

Thanks to Kidsave, Vincent has found a permanent family.

Kaprea

LA Weekend MiraclesKaprea Shop til' you drop or dancing hip-hop, Kaprea is an active beauty with a gentle tenderness and capacity for reflection. Born in 1993, Kaprea can be found getting her nails done, or at the mall perusing the latest fashions at Hollister or Rave. Just a few minutes more in the shoe department while she tries on a pair of Chucks in the color she is dreaming of and then we're ready to stop at the food court for lunch. Mexican is Kaprea's favorite food, but she'll settle for pizza in a pinch if you'll hold the artichokes. Don't confuse this future gourmet with a fast-food junkie. Kaprea is not-so-secretly obsessed with the Food Network and dreams of being a chef. Sign her up for a cooking class or share some of your own kitchen wizardry. It is easy to make friends while cleaning the last of the cake batter from the bowl!

The biggest problem you could help Kaprea to solve is finding the right family to join. Are you ready to tie on your apron and mix-up a loving home for this captivating child?

Thanks to Kidsave, Kaprea has found a permanent family.

Tasha

LA Weekend Miracles Spend just a few minutes with Tasha and you can’t help but be impressed by her combination of childlike sweetness and maturity.  Born in 1990, Tasha is a petite African-American girl who was adopted as a young child.  Unfortunately, she lost her adopted mother to illness when Tasha was 12 years old.  Knowing and experiencing the love and stability of a permanent family, Tasha wants to find a new family that will love and care for her as she approaches adulthood.

Tasha is initially somewhat shy, but it does not take long to discover that she is an open, friendly and very engaging young girl.  She is very bright and is currently focusing on completing her high school education.  She giggles and states, “I have a short attention span and TV distracts me from focusing on my school work.”

Tasha is closely approaching independence and desperately needs a loving family that can guide and support her goals and dreams. She would love to have brothers and sisters of any age and she is open to out of state families.  Are you that special family?

Thanks to Kidsave Tasha has a life-long connection!

Joe

LA Weekend Miracles Born in 1992, Joe is a very intelligent, polite and well-mannered boy with an easy smile. He has made great progress, both socially and academically and is particularly proud of his academic accomplishments. Joe enjoys making friends and he likes acting like a big brother to younger kids. He also gets along well with adults. Joe has a younger brother that he does not live with, but would like to maintain contact with.

When asked what kind of family Joe would like to have, he has no particular preferences other than wanting a family that really cares for him and will help prepare him for adulthood.

Thanks to Kidsave Joe has a life-long connection!

Ashley

LA Weekend MiraclesAshley is an engaging youth with a sense of adventure and compassion for others.  Born in 1994 this energetic youth enjoys music, fashion, and movies.  Despite her love for the girly things in life, Ashley also finds joy in camping and hiking and spending time in the outdoors.

Ashley is social and makes friends easily.  The other girls in her group home consider her their peer therapist. A loyal friend and kind listener, it is not hard to see why others are drawn to this vivacious youth.

Ashley is also intelligent and quite capable of doing well in school.  One day Ashley hopes to be a fabulously famous actress.  But if that plan doesn’t work out, practical Ashley has a backup plan and would also like to be an ultrasound technician.

An ideal afternoon for Ashley involves shopping, Sushi, and laughter with friends and family. But Ashley is searching for a family for more than just fun times.  She very much wants to start a first job and begin more serious planning for her future.  Ashley really needs to experience that feeling of belonging somewhere and being settled.

Thanks to Kidsave, Ashley has a life-long connection!

Jacob

LA Weekend MiraclesJacob is a boy of action. Born in 1996, Jacob is outgoing and animated and spends much of his time cruising the neighborhood on his bike, braking for friends or neighbors to share a story or a joke. Perpetually energetic and curious about the world around him, Jacob shows great resiliency in his capacity to ignore barbs or ill-intended criticisms and maintain his positive attitude. What Jacob couldn't ignore was his need for loving caregivers to reciprocate the enormous love in his heart.

Thanks to Kidsave, Jacob is on his way to a permanent family!

Valerie and Melinda

LA Weekend MiraclesMeet Valerie and Melinda, age 13. These cute, always well groomed, very well mannered young ladies are typical teens who enjoy a variety of activities, and are open minded about learning new things. Both girls are doing well in school and they work hard to maintain good grades! Valerie and Melinda are fraternal twins, but are close as clams, and often wear their hair the same making them look even more alike.

Valerie is very friendly, relates well with peers and adults, shopping, eating out, and going to school dances, and she really is enjoying school. Melinda enjoys eating out, going to the mall, playing basketball, jogging, and hanging with friends. Melinda was recently promoted to College Bound classes. As teens go, they can both be chatterboxes, and never hesitate to answer questions about themselves, but they are also curious and like to ask questions.

Both girls appreciate the support they get from their foster mother who encourages them to always do their best. Valerie and Melinda are now open minded to being placed with a permanent family, and agree it is important to have a family they can turn to, even after they grow up and go off to college. Both girls do plan to go to college, but aren’t sure exactly what careers they want to pursue since they are too busy being teenagers!

Thanks to Kidsave, Valerie and Melinda have a permanent family!

Travion

LA Weekend MiraclesTerrific Travion is quiet and reserved with a kind heart and warm patience that you can see in action as he sighs and smiles through his younger brothers teasing and antics. Born in 1994, Travion is the watchful older brother. He is a passionate athlete and especially excels at football and track. Last season he played defensive end, and in track some of his best events are the 800 relay and the long jump. Travion keeps up his grades at school. Favorite subjects include history, English, and science. He enjoys being active and outdoors. Travion is hoping to get a summer job, and is beginning to think about college and his future plans. Possible careers he has considered include medicine, therapy, or business. Most of all, Travion looks forward to finding a family that can share the important milestones of his youth, and help him to prepare for college and his future.

Thanks to Kidsave, Travion is on his way to having a permanent family!
