A panel discussion & reception will follow the screening
A&E featured Kidsave’s Weekend Miracles Program through a series, The Day I Picked My Parents, which features foster youth and families in Los Angeles, a county that has the largest child-welfare system in the country. The real, riveting stories in this series explore advocacy, mentorship, and hosting, and in some cases the road to permanency and adoption. The series centers on the lives of older foster youth who have struggled to find families because of their age. It shines a light on the challenges and hard-fought triumphs of these foster youth, who have spent their childhood growing up in unstable placements. Many of these youth share a similar dream: to have parents who will love and care for them and a place to call home. All of them want someone they can count on.
