Grant had been with Kidsave for almost a year when he met Jesus at an event designed for adults to meet kids in need of families. Jesus immediately captured Grant’s attention as Jesus shared his love for football. They talked about Jesus’ team, the Seattle Seahawks, and Grant’s team, the USC Trojans, as well as the coach they had in common– Pete Carroll. Better yet, Grant discovered this kind-hearted, sweet teenager was in need of a family and open to getting to know him.
That started a series of weekends where they focused on getting to know each other, and by Thanksgiving they were planning to spend the holidays together. And most importantly, they were matched for adoption. New Year’s marked another special transition as Jesus moved into Grant’s home.
When things work, they really work. An added bonus: Jesus and Grant live a few blocks away from another Weekend Miracles family, Steven and his son, Marcos. The boys met and became friends through Weekend Miracles and now attend the same school!”
