In the US, there are thousands of foster care youth waiting to be adopted. Many are older (more than 9 years old), and with each passing year, they are less likely to be adopted, and more likely to "age out” of the foster care system without the support of a caring, responsible adult. Studies have shown that older youth are more likely to be adopted by people who know them. Yet, adults often don't have opportunities to meet these wonderful children who are longing for a permanent family.
Kidsave's Weekend Miracles program is working to change that by connecting older foster care youth with caring adults who are interested in creating lasting relationships with children and helping them find an adoptive family. Our program is currently offered in Los Angeles County, CA and Washington, DC.
Interested in adopting an older youth?
Kidsave is not an adoption agency. However, through our program we connect youth with caring adults who are interested in adoption and can offer guidance through the adoption process. If you are interested in adopting an older youth, we encourage you to come to an orientation session as well as our weekend events, where you can meet children participating in our program.
