A Celebration of Thanks

This past weekend we had a lot to be thankful for as Kidsave celebrated our annual Thanksgiving Feast. On Saturday, we met at the lovely Bethlehem SCV in Santa Clarita for an afternoon of fun and games and LOTS of food!

For those of you in the Los Angeles area, you know that we’ve had some heavy rain recently. Thankfully, it was a gorgeous day in Santa Clarita for the kids and families to spend time together and begin to build connections.

Holiday food brings a smile to many faces, and the attendees at this event were no exception. Between macaroni and cheese, honey baked ham, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce, there was plenty of good food to be excited about. And as the kids and families shared this meal together, they also shared conversations and laughter.

And while the food was certainly a hit, we also had lots of Thanksgiving themed activities for the kids and families to do. Some of the fun included decorating cookies to look like turkeys and playing ring toss.

For many of the kids in our programs, the holidays can be a painful and lonely time. That’s why we always plan fun, holiday themed events that our kids can look forward to and where they can create positive memories with their new mentors, hosts, and even future families!

About Weekend Miracles

There are many wonderful kids in our Weekend Miracles program in need of hosts or adoptive families. These older kids in foster care are growing up without the stability and love that all kids need to thrive. If you’re interested in adopting or hosting an older kid, please contact us. We’re happy to answer any questions and help you get started. Email us at weekendmiracles@kidsave.org to learn more.
