If you joined us at our 2022 Kidsave Miracles Gala or watched the footage, then you’re familiar with Dominic (formerly Danny) and how he met his parents, Mike and Tom, through Kidsave’s Weekend Miracles program. Well, this month, their story came full circle! Dominic’s adoption was finalized in a Los Angeles courtroom, with extended family looking on.

“I’ve been telling everyone, ‘It takes a village,’ and the village came for this very special day,” said Tom. “It’s been an ideal day,” said Mike.

Kidsave staff were also in attendance, including CEO Randi Thompson and Vice President Lauren Gordon, who have both known Dominic, Mike, and Tom from the beginning of their journey. They couldn’t pass up this monumental occasion. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the three legally became a family.

Finding Mike and Tom has been a dream for Dominic, who spent his early life in foster care.

“It’s taken about two and a half years since we met to get to this point,” said Dominic. “But every day has been a constant push and motivation to reach this point, and we couldn’t be happier.”

Sara, Dominic’s social worker, shared her perspective on Dominic’s growth since meeting Mike and Tom. “Through the last few years, Dominic’s confidence and self-love have blossomed,” she said. “And to see Mike and Tom meet him where he’s at – as opposed to putting expectations on him – I couldn’t wish for better adoptive parents for Dominic.”

Since finding one another, Dominic, Mike, and Tom have remained steadfast supporters of Kidsave’s programs. They diligently attend events and advocate for kids currently dreaming of finding their own forever families. Whether tearing it up on the dance floor at a Miracles Gala or helping kids make “TP mummies” at a Kidsave event, their beaming faces are a beacon of hope for everyone who meets them. Now that their adoption is finalized, we can’t wait to see the new heights they reach as a forever family.
