Los Angeles, CA (November 11, 2020) For older children in foster care (ages 9-17) who have limited adoptive family prospects, permanency has felt further from reach in 2020. During November, a month to recognize the urgent need for adoptive families for children in foster care, Kidsave is calling the media and everyone else to act on this issue.
To help older kids find forever families, Kidsave, a charitable advocacy organization, launched Adopt a Post asking the public to post pictures of children in their Weekend Miracles program across social media. Kids like 12-year-old Ocean, 16-year-old Emerald, and 14-year-old Devon, long to find a permanent place to call home as soon as possible.
A happy, engaging and personable young 12-year-old, Ocean enjoys going on various outings, playing video games, collecting hot wheels cars, and completing puzzles. He dreams of college, owning a Ferrari AND Lamborghini (way to go Ocean!), but mostly he dreams of finding a family to love and support him. And one that would support his relationships with his older siblings.
Emerald, 16, is shy at first but once she gets to know you soon opens up to reveals the real gem she is. Whether lounging on the porch reading books or munching down on her favorite In-N-Out burger, Emerald would love a forever family to share it with. Emerald loves going to the gym, hiking, and taking dogs on long walks, with hopes of being a veterinarian.
Charming 14-year-old Devon dreams of becoming an actor and hopes to take acting classes soon. Fascinated with all things Hollywood and Disney, Devon is looking for a little magic of his own with hopes to find his forever family. An avid sports fan who loves watching soccer, basketball, and tennis, Devon is inquisitive by nature and loves to share his feelings and thoughts.
“Our kids are unique, loving and so resilient. They need, want, and deserve a family. They can’t continue to wait.” says Randi Thompson, Kidsave CEO. “I ask that you recognize them this month and help us bring them out of the shadows. Your post, article, or interview could change their lives.”

Kidsave, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, promotes and supports the adoption of older children (ages 9-17) in foster care. Through their Weekend Miracles family visit program, Kidsave combines mentorship and child-specific adoption advocacy to support youth who would otherwise age out of foster care without a permanent family or a stable adult connection. The goal of Weekend Miracles is a lifelong, connected, caring relationship with at least one safe, stable adult for every child. Kidsave recruits and trains volunteer hosts (individuals and families) to provide ongoing support to these children. Hosts welcome a foster youth into their home on weekends, get to know them, and support them in their lives. Simultaneously, hosts work with Kidsave to use their networks, circles of influence, and the local media to introduce that child to a family who will adopt them.
Hosts may also adopt or become the child’s permanent legal guardians. More than 80% of the kids who participate in Kidsave’s Weekend Miracles program exit with relational or legal permanency.
Kidsave maintains the highest four-star rating from Charity Navigator and earned a top-ranked organization evaluation from Global Giving. To learn more please visit www.kidsave.org or contact Lauren Davis at (202) 503-3101.
