Los Angeles

This year marked a significant milestone for Kidsave as we celebrated our 25th Anniversary Miracles Gala at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The theme, “Celebrating 25 Years of Love and Family,” resonated deeply with everyone in attendance as families who had met through Kidsave’s transformative programs gathered to commemorate their journeys and Kidsave’s impact over the years.

The event attracted a vibrant tapestry of generations, with people from various decades coming together to celebrate the bonds of love and family that Kidsave has helped create. The gala was not just a celebration of the past but also a beacon of hope for the future, highlighting the ongoing mission of Kidsave to connect older children in foster care with loving families.

Gala emcee Tonoccus McClain infused the event with energy and warmth, captivating the audience with his heartfelt introductions of the speakers and his genuine connection to Kidsave’s programs. His graceful guidance throughout the evening provided a seamless flow, offering insightful previews of each speaker and setting the stage for their impactful presentations. His emotional resonance and engaging presence made the gala a truly memorable experience for all in attendance.

One of the highlights of the evening was the exciting auction, where attendees had the opportunity to bid on unique items while contributing to Kidsave’s cause. The atmosphere was electric as people generously showed their support, knowing that every dollar raised would make a difference in the lives of children longing for a forever family.

Shantay Armstrong, Kidsave’s DEI Manager and Director of EMBRACE, delivered a moving speech highlighting the significant progress EMBRACE has achieved this year. EMBRACE’s core mission, “to help understand and improve the experience for Black youth and Black families involved with the child welfare system,” was eloquently articulated by Armstrong, showcasing the dedication and impact of Kidsave in continuing to create positive change and support in the lives of children.

However, the heart of the gala lay in the heartfelt speeches delivered by four former Kidsave kids: Anastasia, Sebastian, Kaprea, and G. Each shared their personal journey of finding their forever family through Kidsave, touching the hearts of everyone present and reaffirming the organization’s mission of creating lasting bonds of love and belonging.

Randi Thompson, Kidsave’s Co-Founder and CEO, also delivered a moving speech expressing her passion for Kidsave’s mission and her hopes for the future. Her dedication and vision have been instrumental in shaping Kidsave into the impactful organization it is today, and her words resonated deeply with all who share her commitment to creating a world where every child has a loving family. “This has been a super emotional night for Kidsave,” said Randi. “It’s a journey of families formed, generational change, and futures rewritten.”

This year’s honoree was Sari Grant, a longtime Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) partner. Her unwavering support for Kidsave and ongoing advocacy for older kids in foster care made her the perfect choice for such a milestone honor. “At first, I was skeptical,” said Sari. “But, through witnessing the program, not only did I become a believer, but I also became a strong advocate for Kidsave, and they’ve truly won my heart.” Her dedication inspires all, showing the power of collaboration and community in making a difference.

As the night drew to a close, the energy shifted to the dance floor, where attendees let loose and celebrated amidst music and laughter. It was a fitting end to a night filled with love, gratitude, and the shared belief that every child deserves a loving family and a place to call home.
