Ukrainian winters are growing harsher each year. As the war continues and winter sets in, countless women and children remain the most vulnerable. Many across Mykolaiv, Kherson, and other regions are now facing freezing temperatures without reliable electricity in their homes. With temperatures dropping as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit, everyday life has become a struggle for survival.
This winter, Kidsave is stepping in to assist 1,500 families by providing essential heating fuel and other critical goods to help them endure the cold. Fuel briquettes are the most efficient and reliable source for both heating and cooking; these briquettes remain a high priority as they give households a fighting chance to withstand the brutal winter months.
The severe climate has also made it difficult to obtain long-lasting root vegetables, an essential part of a healthy diet. In response, we are partnering with the Plebeian Helpers Aid Center to support procurement, storage, and distribution efforts, ensuring that vulnerable towns and families continue to receive the critical food supplies they depend on.
Along with physical needs, Kidsave is providing dedicated healing spaces for mothers and children, offering psychological support that helps them recover, reconnect, and rebuild after the trauma of war. Our Ukraine team remains focused on their mission to make this winter more bearable for families across the region.
