Washington DC and Los Angeles — Kidsave is pleased to announce Dr. Claire Lucas’s appointment to Kidsave’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Lucas is a devoted advocate for human rights and equality in the U.S. and around the world. As principal of the Peasley Group, she works to create innovative, profitable, and inclusive communities. Dr. Lucas is also Deputy National Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Chair of the DNC’s LGBTQ Council, and an At-Large DNC member. In addition, she is a very strong supporter of President Biden and worked very hard to get him elected, serving as  Co-Chair of Women for Biden, Co-Chair of the Biden LGBTQ Finance Council, and participating on both the domestic and foreign policy campaign committees.

As her first order of business, Dr. Lucas is co-chairing Kidsave’s Annual Miracles Gala, to raise more than $600k that will directly help children find forever families. This must-watch event on June 5, at 8 pm EST, will feature heartwarming family stories, celebrity appearances by Rosie Perez, Black Pumas, Andra Day, Tituss Burgess, and more.

“We are happy to welcome an award-winning expert in international policy, coalition building, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy to our Board,” said Randi Thompson, Kidsave President, and CEO. “Claire understands very well global challenges such as poverty, health and education disparities, and the need for many amazing orphaned children to find loving homes.” And it’s not a distant issue for her as she is a committed mom to beautiful, adopted children, and she understands first-hand the need for kids to have the love and support of family.”

Dr. Lucas and her partner Judy Dlugacz adopted their two children, Juan and Angie, through Kidsave’s Summer Miracles program.

“My amazing, loving, smart, and courageous children are a testament to Kidsave’s invaluable work. Bringing children to various communities and introducing them to families who will nurture and support them can change the trajectory of their lives. All children deserve a loving family.”

Along with her outstanding philanthropy and fundraising work, Dr. Lucas has held several leadership positions at the World Bank, where her leadership resulted in the creation of numerous, multimillion-dollar multiple stakeholder international development projects. Before joining the World Bank, Dr. Lucas worked for the Pan American Health Organization, the Harvard Institute for International Development, and several consulting firms. Dr. Lucas holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, an M.S. from Harvard University, and a B.A. from Pomona College.
