Shazam! Kidsave Early Screening

Superheroes have been a running theme lately for our LA events. (Click Here to read about last month’s Meet the Kids event) This month, we held a very special Connection Event; thanks to a generous donation from producer, Peter Safran and his wife Natalia, our kids enjoyed an early screening of the movie, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” at the stunning IPIC Theater on Wilshire Boulevard. Connection events are smaller, invitation-only events, that help kids and families who have already connected at previous Kidsave events continue to build their bond with the aim of moving towards a hosting family relationship.

If you live in LA and have never been to the IPIC, you certainly should. Many of the kids in our program had never been to such a nice theater with sweeping staircases, chandeliers, and comfy seats. Our kids had a blast taking in the scenery, enjoying complimentary popcorn and drinks; their awe was apparent. The air was filled with the trademark buttery smell of the theater and the room was full of glee while waiting for the lights to dim. Before the film began, we had some videos of our own on the big screen! Kidsave adoption stories like those of Joshua and Susan, and  Greg, Aaron, and their sons reflected possibilities to our kids in the audience still dreaming of a forever family. Before long, the movie started, and we were whisked away to the world of “Shazam!”

We were also joined by Kidsave adoptive families and one of the stars of the film. Up and coming actor Jovan Armand (“Pedro Peña” in the film) graciously spent his afternoon watching the film with our kids. He even signed and gave away t-shirts at the end! Jovan has also designed a one-of-a-kind necklace, inspired by the film, that will be auctioned on Ebay. 25% of the proceeds will be donated to Kidsave!

At Kidsave, we believe all our kids are stars but we’re always grateful when awesome people like Jovan make time to give them support.
